Integrating QES with Adobe Acrobat Sign

Integrating QES with Adobe Acrobat Sign

Many organisations already run their signing on Adobe Acrobat Sign and have no wish to replace it. The good news: you do not have to. Acrobat Sign supports all three eIDAS signature levels, and with a qualified trust service provider connected, you can add qualified electronic signatures (QES) to the workflows your teams already know — keeping the familiar experience while raising the legal bar.

How Acrobat Sign handles eIDAS levels

Acrobat Sign supports simple, advanced and qualified signatures. In its EU environment it applies PAdES (ETSI EN 319142) by default, so signatures are embedded in PDFs in the standard, interoperable way. For qualified signatures, the actual signing is performed by a qualified trust service provider — Adobe deliberately leaves the choice of provider open so organisations can meet their national and industry requirements.

Where primesign fits in

primesign acts as the qualified trust service provider behind Acrobat Sign. Using the open standard developed by the Cloud Signature Consortium — formalised as ETSI TS 119 432 — Acrobat Sign calls primesign's signing service to create the qualified signature. The signer stays in the Acrobat experience; primesign provides the qualified certificate, the certified signing environment and the legal strength.

Enterprise and individual integration

The integration supports both enterprise and individual scenarios: organisations can enable QES for high-volume, governed workflows, or for individual signers who occasionally need a qualified signature. Either way, the signing journey remains inside Acrobat Sign, with primesign handling the qualified part behind the scenes.

Why this approach works

  • Keep your existing tool. No rip-and-replace; your teams continue in Acrobat Sign.
  • Add genuine QES. Qualified signatures with full eIDAS legal equivalence, not just advanced signatures.
  • Standards-based. Built on the CSC standard and PAdES, not a proprietary lock-in.
  • Freedom of provider. Choose a qualified provider that meets your regional and compliance needs.

    HOW PRIMESIGN HELPS

primesign integrates seamlessly with Adobe Acrobat Sign to add qualified electronic signatures (QES) without disrupting your existing workflows. Acting as the qualified trust service provider, primesign delivers certified signing, qualified certificates, and full eIDAS compliance while your users continue signing within the familiar Acrobat Sign interface.
