Hash signing or document signing - which is right for me?

+ With document signing, primesign is responsible of the creation of the PDF signature, the visual preparation of the signature (stamp) and to add all required LTV information. Additionally, primesign can also add a qualified timestamp on request.

+ With hash signing, your application handles the preparation of the PDF document, the preparation of the CMS signature, the creation of the PDF signature and the visual display of the signature in the PDF. primesignonly receives the hash value. More about our Hash Signing API.

Which document formats are signed?

The primesign SIGNATURE SERVER only signs PDF documents. The international signature standard PAdES is used to sign PDF documents.

Compliance with this standard guarantees long-term and product-independent verifiability. The signed PDF documents can therefore be verified with common standard PDF tools.

In addition to PDF documents, primesign can also process a wide variety of Office documents and images. These are converted into a corresponding PDF document by primesign using an integrated PDF converter.

Can a document that has already been signed be signed again?

Yes, documents can be signed multiple times with primesign. This also applies to documents that have already been signed beforehand .

External signatures that have previously been applied to a document must adhere to the PAdES signature standard and must not lock or encrypt the PDF document.

Can several documents be signed in one step?

Yes, multiple documents can be signed in one single step, i.e. with just one signature authorization. Each of the uploaded documents gets signed.

The successfully signed documents or a corresponding error message are sent back to the calling application via our SOAP interface.

What standards does primesign meet with its signatures?

PDF signatures created by primesign are PAdES compliant and LTV-enabled.
Support for timestamps and ETSI TS 103 172 V2.2.2.2 Level "LT".

Which API do I use for the automated application of an electronic seal? For processes involving automated signature application (i.e. signature application without user input), use our SOAP SignatureService API. Simply provide the document to be signed along with the desired signature profile, and you will receive the signed document directly. Easy to integrate and high performance.

Are documents signed with primesign classified as trustworthy in Adobe Acrobat and other tools?

+ primesign is eIDAS-compliant and is on the EU trusted list (EUTL). Automatically trusted in Adobe Acrobat Reader and numerous other applications

Are transactions charged per signature or per document?

+ billing per signature transaction, regardless of whether 1 or 10 documents are signed in one step.

+ primesign supports to sign several documents in one step (batch signing) via SOAP WorkflowService. The SOAP SignatureService only accepts single documents.

How do I start the integration of the primesign Document Signing API?
