FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the costs of renewing a certificate?

For most of our customers (primesign MOBILE FLAT and primesign MOBILE+ FLAT customers), certificate renewal is free of charge.

For other price models, your sales contact or our sales team will be happy to help.

My email address has changed. Can I use my new email address when renewing my certificate?

No. Certificate renewal is not possible with a new email address. When renewing your certificate, you must use the same email address you used for initial registration with primesign.

If your email address has changed and/or you no longer use the email address that you used for initial registration with primesign, you must immediately revoke the signing certificate. The certificate may no longer be used for signing. Information on revocation can be found here. To continue signing with primesign, a new registration is required. Please contact your internal IT department or our support team for a new VOUCHER code.
Certificate renewal - what happens in detail?

We issue a new signing certificate in your name. The new signing certificate is immediately ready for use and valid for a further five years (from the date of issue). If you renew your signing certificate before its expiry, your old signing certificate which is still valid at the time of renewal will be automatically revoked. We inform you about the revocation by email. As a matter of course, all signatures previously created remain valid even after a signing certificate has expired or been revoked.

What is the process for renewing a certificate?

We use our OnBoarding Service for certificate renewal.

  • Visit our OnBoarding Service and enter the VOUCHER code you used for the initial registration with primesign.
  • Continue with the same email address you used for the initial registration with primesign.
  • Identify yourself by video or eID (e.g. German ID card, ID Austria).
  • Enter your new access data.
  • You will then receive your new signing certificate. It is immediately ready for use.
It says my VOUCHER code has already been used. What do I have to do?

You are a primesign MOBILE FLAT or primesign MOBILE+ FLAT customer: Your VOUCHER code may not yet have been activated for certificate renewal. Please contact our support.

For other price models, your sales contact or our sales team will be happy to help.

I no longer know my VOUCHER code. What can I do? Contact your internal IT department. If your internal IT department cannot help you, please contact our support team.
When can I start signing documents again after renewing my certificate? Immediately. Your new signing certificate is immediately ready for use.
Why did I also receive a revocation email while renewing my certificate?

Renewing your certificate means we issue a completely new signing certificate in your name. If you renew your signing certificate before its expiry, your old signing certificate which is still valid at the time of renewal will be automatically revoked. We inform you about the revocation by email. As a matter of course, all signatures previously created remain valid even after a signing certificate has expired or been revoked.
