With the revocation service, PrimeSign GmbH ensures that primesign certificates can be suspended or revoked quickly and easily at any time. This prevents misuse of the certificate.
REVOCATION & SUSPENSION
SUSPENSION
A suspension can be lifted within 10 days.
The following reasons, among others, require a certificate to be suspended:
- in the event of suspected loss or theft of the private key (e.g. the smartcard)
- if the signature medium (e.g. smartcard) is suspected to be defective
- if there is a suspicion that the private key has been compromised or misused
Suspension must be obtained by the signatory, but can also be initiated by the trust service itself if it becomes aware of a compelling reason for suspension.
REVOCATION
The revocation of a certificate is final.
The following reasons, among others, require a certificate to be revoked:
- Loss or theft of the private key (e.g. the smartcard)
- Your smartcard is defective and can no longer be used to create signatures
- Compromise of the private key
- Information in the certificate is no longer correct
- Misuse by certificate holder or third parties
- Violation of the applicable terms of use by the certificate holder
- Termination of the contractual relationship
- PrimeSign GmbH becomes aware of the death of the certificate holder
- Loss of the cell phone that was used to initiate PrimeSign signatures
The revocation must be obtained by the signatory, but can also be initiated by the trust service itself if it becomes aware of a compelling reason for revocation.
SUSPENSION IN SELF-MANAGEMENT
A certificate can be suspended by the signatory in Self-Management.
For the suspension you need:
- Knowledge of the VOUCHER CODE ( CODE that was used for registration), or
- the revocation password defined during registration, if applicable.
REVOCATION SERVICE
TELEPHONE REVOCATION SERVICE (FOR EMERGENCIES)
Certificates can be revoked by telephone. Depending on the type of registration (issuance of the certificate), you need:
- Knowledge of the VOUCHER CODE (CODE that was used for registration), or
- the revocation password defined during registration, if applicable.
Revocation by telephone is possible Monday to Sunday, from 0:00h to 24:00h, under the revocation emergency number:

The certificate numbers of revoked or suspended certificates are saved in the revocation database by PrimeSign GmbH. This revocation information signed by PrimeSign GmbH is continuously updated, so that the status of a certificate can be checked at any time (https://tc.prime-sign.com).
